What is RICE Scoring?

RICE is a prioritization framework used by product people (product managers mostly) to evaluate and compare different product initiatives. It helps you make data-driven decisions about what to build next.

  • Reach: Estimate how many people your feature will impact in a given time period.
  • Impact: Rate the impact on an individual customer (0.25 = minimal, 3 = massive).
  • Confidence: Gauge your confidence in your estimates (as a percentage).
  • Effort: Estimate the total amount of time required (in person-months).

The RICE score is calculated as: (Reach * Impact * Confidence) / Effort
